kramadvādasakam samyag dvādasāksarabheditam
sthūlasūksmaparasthityā muktvā muktvāntatah sivah

Let your attention glide
Through the centers of awareness along the spine
with adoring intent.

There is a song to each area of the body.
Listen to these sounds resonating in sweet vortexes,
long rhythmic vowels.

Ah . . . .
and Eee . . . .
Hummmm . . .
Ommmm . . .
Resonating on and on.

Listen to these as sounds,
Then more subtly as an underlying hum,
Eventually as most subtle feeling.

Then diving more deeply,
Expand into freedom.

Where:

krama - proceding, successively, going along the way successively
dvadasakam - twelve
Samyak - complete, proper, right understanding, correct
dvadash akshara - twelve letters - the twelve letter mantra, (such as Om Namo Bhagavate Vasudevaya). Each of the twelve chakras has its own mantra. Or akshara.
bheditam - piercing (Bihar). Bhedena, separation. Discrete elements. Bheda, bursting parting, passing, breaking open, separation, division. Causing to flow.
sthula - dense, dull, gross
sukshma - subtle
para sthitya - beyond situated
muktva muktva - becoming liberated
antatah - finally
shiva - the kundalini becomes one with Shiva

(I made the choice to translate bheditam as opening, touching in such a way that it opens, rather than the force implied in “piercing.” The idea that there is a separate, willful “you” that “does something” to the chakras is foreign to this text.)
