Welcome to Shrutam! These Terms of Service ("Terms") govern your access to and use of Shrutam's websites, products, and services (collectively, the "Service"). By accessing or using the Service, you agree to be bound by these Terms. Please read them carefully.

1. Acceptance of Terms

By creating an account, accessing, or using any part of the Shrutam Service, you signify that you have read, understood, and agree to be bound by these Terms, our Privacy Policy, Children's Privacy Notice, Cookie Policy, and Student Data Privacy Notice. If you do not agree with any part of these Terms, you may not use the Service.

2. Who Can Use Shrutam

The Shrutam Service is intended for high school students in the United States. You must be at least 13 years old to create an account on Shrutam Research. If you are between 13 and 17 years old, you must have verifiable parental consent to use Shrutam Research. Shrutam Main (shrutam.com) is accessible to all ages without an account.

3. Your Shrutam Account (Shrutam Research)

3.1 Account Creation and Security

To use Shrutam Research, you must create an account using your email address. We use a "magic-link" authentication system, meaning you will never set or store a password with us. You are responsible for keeping your email account secure and for all activities that occur under your account. You agree to provide accurate, current, and complete information during the registration process and to update such information to keep it accurate, current, and complete.

3.2 Account Responsibilities

You are solely responsible for all content you submit, post, upload, or otherwise make available through your account. You agree not to share your magic links or allow others to access your account. 4. Acceptable Use Policy

You agree to use the Shrutam Service only for its intended purpose and in a manner that is lawful and does not infringe upon the rights of others. You agree not to:

  • Use the Service for any illegal or unauthorized purpose.
  • Engage in any activity that could damage, disable, overburden, or impair the Service or interfere with any other party's use of the Service.
  • Attempt to gain unauthorized access to any part of the Service, other users' accounts, or computer systems or networks connected to the Service through hacking, password mining, or any other means.
  • Upload, post, or transmit any content that is unlawful, harmful, threatening, abusive, harassing, defamatory, vulgar, obscene, libelous, invasive of another's privacy, hateful, or racially, ethnically, or otherwise objectionable.
  • Impersonate any person or entity, or falsely state or otherwise misrepresent your affiliation with a person or entity.
  • Upload or transmit any unsolicited or unauthorized advertising, promotional materials, "junk mail," "spam," "chain letters," "pyramid schemes," or any other form of solicitation.
  • Upload or transmit any material that contains software viruses or any other computer code, files, or programs designed to interrupt, destroy, or limit the functionality of any computer software or hardware or telecommunications equipment.
  • Reverse engineer, decompile, disassemble, or otherwise attempt to discover the source code or underlying algorithms of the Service.
  • Use any robot, spider, scraper, or other automated means to access the Service for any purpose without our express written permission.
  • Collect or store personal data about other users without their express consent.

5. AI-Generated Content Disclaimer

Shrutam Research utilizes artificial intelligence (AI) to provide features such as drafting cold emails, critiquing essays, and offering application strategy advice. While we strive to provide helpful and accurate AI-generated content, please be aware of the following:

  • User Responsibility: You are solely responsible for reviewing, editing, and verifying the accuracy and appropriateness of any AI-generated content before using it. For example, if you use AI to draft a cold email, you are responsible for the final content of that email and for sending it from your own email client.
  • No Guarantees: AI-generated content is provided "as is" and for informational purposes only. Shrutam makes no guarantees regarding the accuracy, completeness, or effectiveness of AI-generated content.
  • Ethical Use: You agree to use AI-generated content ethically and responsibly. Do not present AI-generated content as entirely your own original work without proper attribution where required, especially in academic contexts.

6. Intellectual Property

6.1 Shrutam's Content

All content on Shrutam Main (shrutam.com), including study guides, text, graphics, images, audio, and other materials, is owned by Shrutam or its licensors. Unless otherwise specified, our educational content (e.g., study guides) is licensed under a Creative Commons Attribution-NonCommercial-ShareAlike 4.0 International License (CC BY-NC-SA 4.0). This means you are free to share and adapt the material for non-commercial purposes, provided you give appropriate credit, provide a link to the license, and indicate if changes were made. If you remix, transform, or build upon the material, you must distribute your contributions under the same license as the original.

All other aspects of the Shrutam Service, including the design, code, and user interface of Shrutam Research, are protected by copyright, trademark, and other intellectual property laws and are the exclusive property of Shrutam. You may not reproduce, distribute, modify, create derivative works of, publicly display, publicly perform, republish, download, store, or transmit any of the material on our Service, except as generally permitted by the CC BY-NC-SA 4.0 license for specific content or with our express written permission.

6.2 User-Submitted Content

You retain all ownership rights to the content you submit, post, or display on or through the Shrutam Research Service (e.g., your profile information, writing samples, essay drafts, answers to AI questions). By submitting content, you grant Shrutam a worldwide, non-exclusive, royalty-free, transferable license to use, reproduce, distribute, prepare derivative works of, display, and perform that content solely for the purpose of operating, providing, and improving the Shrutam Service for you and other users, and as described in our Privacy Policy. This license ends when you delete your content or account, unless your content has been shared with others and they have not deleted it.

7. Takedown Process (DMCA)

Shrutam respects the intellectual property rights of others and expects its users to do the same. If you believe that any content on the Shrutam Service infringes upon your copyright or other intellectual property rights, please send a notice to our designated agent at [email protected] with the following information:

  • A physical or electronic signature of a person authorized to act on behalf of the owner of an exclusive right that is allegedly infringed.
  • Identification of the copyrighted work claimed to have been infringed, or, if multiple copyrighted works at a single online site are covered by a single notification, a representative list of such works at that site.
  • Identification of the material that is claimed to be infringing or to be the subject of infringing activity and that is to be removed or access to which is to be disabled, and information reasonably sufficient to permit Shrutam to locate the material.
  • Information reasonably sufficient to permit Shrutam to contact the complaining party, such as an address, telephone number, and, if available, an electronic mail address.
  • A statement that the complaining party has a good faith belief that use of the material in the manner complained of is not authorized by the copyright owner, its agent, or the law.
  • A statement that the information in the notification is accurate, and under penalty of perjury, that the complaining party is authorized to act on behalf of the owner of an exclusive right that is allegedly infringed.

8. Termination

You may stop using the Shrutam Service and delete your account at any time by contacting [email protected] or using the unsubscribe link in any email. We may terminate or suspend your access to all or part of the Service, without notice, for conduct that we believe violates these Terms or is harmful to other users of the Service, Shrutam, or third parties, or for any other reason in our sole discretion.

9. Disclaimer of Warranties

THE SHUTRAM SERVICE IS PROVIDED ON AN "AS IS" AND "AS AVAILABLE" BASIS, WITHOUT ANY WARRANTIES OF ANY KIND, EITHER EXPRESS OR IMPLIED. SHUTRAM SPECIFICALLY DISCLAIMS ALL WARRANTIES AND CONDITIONS OF MERCHANTABILITY, FITNESS FOR A PARTICULAR PURPOSE, NON-INFRINGEMENT, AND ANY WARRANTIES ARISING OUT OF COURSE OF DEALING OR USAGE OF TRADE. SHUTRAM DOES NOT WARRANT THAT THE SERVICE WILL BE UNINTERRUPTED, SECURE, OR ERROR-FREE, OR THAT DEFECTS WILL BE CORRECTED. NO ADVICE OR INFORMATION, WHETHER ORAL OR WRITTEN, OBTAINED FROM SHUTRAM OR THROUGH THE SERVICE WILL CREATE ANY WARRANTY NOT EXPRESSLY MADE HEREIN.

10. Limitation of Liability

TO THE FULLEST EXTENT PERMITTED BY APPLICABLE LAW, IN NO EVENT SHALL SHUTRAM, ITS FOUNDER, OR ITS AFFILIATES BE LIABLE FOR ANY INDIRECT, INCIDENTAL, SPECIAL, CONSEQUENTIAL, OR PUNITIVE DAMAGES, OR ANY LOSS OF PROFITS OR REVENUES, WHETHER INCURRED DIRECTLY OR INDIRECTLY, OR ANY LOSS OF DATA, USE, GOODWILL, OR OTHER INTANGIBLE LOSSES, RESULTING FROM (A) YOUR ACCESS TO OR USE OF OR INABILITY TO ACCESS OR USE THE SERVICE; (B) ANY CONDUCT OR CONTENT OF ANY THIRD PARTY ON THE SERVICE; (C) ANY CONTENT OBTAINED FROM THE SERVICE; OR (D) UNAUTHORIZED ACCESS, USE, OR ALTERATION OF YOUR TRANSMISSIONS OR CONTENT, WHETHER BASED ON WARRANTY, CONTRACT, TORT (INCLUDING NEGLIGENCE), OR ANY OTHER LEGAL THEORY, WHETHER OR NOT SHUTRAM HAS BEEN INFORMED OF THE POSSIBILITY OF SUCH DAMAGE, AND EVEN IF A REMEDY SET FORTH HEREIN IS FOUND TO HAVE FAILED OF ITS ESSENTIAL PURPOSE. OUR AGGREGATE LIABILITY FOR ALL CLAIMS RELATING TO THE SERVICE SHALL IN NO EVENT EXCEED THE GREATER OF ONE HUNDRED U.S. DOLLARS (U.S. $100.00) OR THE AMOUNT YOU PAID US, IF ANY, IN THE PAST TWELVE MONTHS FOR THE SERVICE GIVING RISE TO THE CLAIM.

11. Governing Law and Jurisdiction

These Terms shall be governed by and construed in accordance with the laws of the State of Texas, without regard to its conflict of law principles. You agree that any dispute arising from or relating to the subject matter of these Terms shall be resolved exclusively in the state or federal courts located in Texas. You hereby waive any objection to personal jurisdiction or venue in such courts.

We believe in direct communication to resolve any issues. Therefore, we do not include an arbitration clause in these Terms. We encourage you to contact us directly to address any concerns.

12. Changes to Terms

We may revise these Terms from time to time. The most current version will always be posted on this page. If a revision is material, we will notify you (e.g., via email to the email address associated with your account). By continuing to access or use the Service after those revisions become effective, you agree to be bound by the revised Terms.
