The Digital SAT Math section consists of two modules, each containing 22 questions and lasting 35 minutes — 70 minutes of math in total. Module 1 is the same for every test-taker. Based on your Module 1 performance, the testing engine routes you to either a harder or a standard Module 2. This adaptive design means the exam gets better at measuring your true ability level.
SAT Math is scored on a 200–800 scale. A raw score (number of correct answers) is converted to a scaled score using an equating process that accounts for the difficulty of the specific module version you received. There is no penalty for wrong answers, so always guess if you are unsure. The national average Math score is approximately 520, and a perfect 800 is achievable with thorough preparation.
Questions are drawn from four content domains. Algebra and Advanced Math each account for roughly 35% of the section, covering linear equations, systems of equations, quadratic and polynomial functions, and exponential growth. Problem Solving and Data Analysis (15%) tests ratios, percentages, statistics, and data interpretation. Geometry and Trigonometry (15%) covers area, volume, the Pythagorean theorem, and basic trig ratios.
The most effective approach is diagnostic-first: take a short assessment to identify which domains and topics cost you the most points, then focus your study time there. For each weak topic, read the lesson to understand the concept, work through adaptive practice questions to build fluency, and review misconception cards to understand why wrong answers were wrong. Finish your preparation with full-length timed mock exams to build test-day pacing and stamina. Most students see meaningful score gains in 4–8 weeks of consistent daily practice.
